Feeding favorites for little kids.

July 19, 2022

Isn’t it great to put down food and have babies and kids eat it? Well, no one knows because that never happens. Trying to get food into kids is challenging – with a 1- and 4-year-old, I know this frighteningly well. We really need all the help we can get around feeding, and these items have offered me some much-needed assistance.

Yeti Rambler Jr. 12 oz

This insulated water bottle is absolutely perfect. It keeps water cold for hours, it’s simple to use for my 1- and 4-year olds, it’s very durable and it’s easy to clean. It’s perfect for daycare, school, the park and just riding around in the car because it’s too hot to be outside.

Ekobo Divided Plate with Rim

My 4-year-old loves having something unique in each section of these divided plates, which helps me balance pasta or chicken nuggets with prunes and raspberries. The plates are pretty big, come in great colors and you can put them in the dishwasher (not the microwave though, unfortunately).

Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair

These high chairs have it all: ergonomic design (back support, 90-degree angle for knees, etc.), they’re easy to clean, sturdy, transform as kids grow (my 1- and 4-year olds both have one) and come in beautiful neutrals.

Utensils

My 4-year old loves this easy grip fork and spoon set – it comes in fun characters, it’s durable and it’s easy to clean. These Munchkin gentle silicone spoons are soft and small, making them perfect for getting in and out of my 1-year-old’s mouth.

Bibs

This mushie silicone bib catches everything, it’s easy to rinse and my incredibly strong and motivated 1-year-old can’t get it off. These Bumkins waterproof bibs are super easy to rinse, too (you can wash them, but I don’t think I ever have), they don’t get in the way when kids are eating and they’re perfect for on the go.

Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder

These Munchkin Feeders are so great because they let my 1-year-old feed herself (which she loves), and I don’t have to worry about her choking on slices of apple or orange. Also, they’re honestly really easy to clean – the food comes right out with a quick rinse.

Ekobo Store & Go Food Containers

These food containers are ideal for daycare and school because they’re leakproof, they won’t break and they’re dishwasher safe. They also come in great colors and sizes – I like the 8 ounce, 11 ounce and 25 ounce.

Ekobo Bowls

The Ekobo kids’ bowls are safe, sturdy, dishwasher safe and so well designed. The 20-ounce silicone bowls are great for cereal, pasta or anything that takes up more space. For my 1-year-old, these 10-ounce silicone suction bowls are great. You can also give any bowl or plate suction on the bottom with these suction bases.

Visual Timers

If my 4-year-old is having trouble focusing on eating, this countdown timer gives my “we’re only sitting here for another 10 minutes” more context as she sees the time ticking down. It’s also a fun distraction. These mini hourglass timers are helpful too – you just tip them over, and kids see the sand drain (it includes one for 30 seconds plus 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10 minutes).

Cell Phone Stand

Speaking of distraction, these cell phone holders are awesome. It’s easy to find the right angle, they securely hold a phone, they’re affordable and they collapse into nothing, so you can have them all over the house and in every bag, like I do. Watching TV during meals can be too distracting, but looking at photos and family videos can help keep kids at the table.
